Vedran Bilas (SM) is a Full Professor of electrical engineering and research group leader (Laboratory for Intelligent Sensor Systems) at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia. He received the PhD in electronics from the University of Zagreb in 1999. He was fonder chair of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Chapter of IEEE Croatia Section from 2003-2010. He has served as a member of the IEEE Sensors Application Symposium (SAS) Steering Committee from 2014-2017. He was general co-chair of the IEEE SAS 2015 in Zadar, Croatia and technical program co-chair of the IEEE SAS 2016 in Catania, Italy. He has been researcher, WP leader and principal investigator on numerous research, development and industrial projects. He received IEEE Croatia Section Annual Award as Distinguished Engineering Educator in 2011. He supervised more than 40 master and PhD students on topics related to sensing and instrumentation. His research interests are in the area of: sensor application, computational sensors, low power electronic systems, sensor interfaces and signal processing, networked embedded sensors, electromagnetic induction sensors and electronic instrumentation for harsh environments.
