What are the Requirements to Be Considered for this Award?
The I&M Career Excellence Award is awarded to recognize a lifetime career of meritorious achievement and outstanding technical contribution by an individual in the field of instrumentation and measurement.

Who Can Submit an Application?


Who Makes the Selection?
The recommendation of the Society Awards Subcommittee is submitted to the AdCom for approval. After AdCom's acceptance of this recommendation, the President of the Society, or a designated representative will present the Award to the recipient in an appropriate ceremony suitable for the occasion. The I&M Society President will be asked to notify and congratulate the award winner.
The Executive Assistant will request the winner's biographical information for the announcement in the Magazine. The Executive Assistant will also draft a certificate using previous certificates as a guide and will arrange with TAB that both certificate and check be sent to the Society President for the presentation. In addition, the Executive Assistant will determine the time and location of the presentation, and will contact the appropriate Conference Chair to arrange for the presentation.

The prize is a Certificate and $5,000. In addition, the recipient may be reimbursed for travel expenses, not exceeding $1000, to attend the ceremony during which the award is presented. This prize is funded by the I&M Society.

What are the Requirements to Be Considered for this Award?
The I&M Society Distinguished Service Award is presented each year to an individual who has given outstanding service to the Society and to the profession. All nominees must be, or have been, members of the I&M Society.  The Society Awards Subcommittee will review the nominations, with the main criterion being service to the I&M Society.  Secondary considerations are service to the IEEE, IRE or AIEE, service to the engineering profession in general, technical accomplishments and outstanding technical leadership.

Who Can Submit an Application?
Any member of the I&M Society may make a nomination. The Society Awards Subcommittee will supply an appropriate nomination form.

Who Makes the Selection?
Attention will be called to this award, as with other I&M Society awards, through the Society Magazine. All nominations must be received by May 30th. with the selection made and the President of the Society notified by June 30th. The recommendation of the Society Awards Subcommittee is submitted to the AdCom for approval.  After AdCom's acceptance of this recommendation, the President of the Society, or a designated representative will present the Award to the recipient in an appropriate ceremony suitable for the occasion. The I&M Society President will be asked to notify and congratulate the award winner.  The Executive Director will request the winner's biographical information for the announcement in the Magazine. The Executive Director will also draft a certificate using previous certificates as a guide and will arrange with TAB that both certificate and check be sent to the Society President for the presentation. In addition, the Executive Director will determine the time and location of the presentation, and will contact the appropriate Conference Chair to arrange for the presentation.

The Award consists of $2000 and a certificate.  Also up to $1000 will be paid to the recipient for transportation to the place of the presentation.

What are the Requirements to Be Considered for this Award?
The Instrumentation and Measurement Society Award is given to an individual or group of individuals for outstanding contribution or leadership in advancing instrumentation design or measurement technique.  The selection criteria for the nominee are based on substantive documentation and tangible evidence of achievement submitted by the nominators. 

Who Can Submit an Application?
Any person with demonstrative and substantive achievement in the field of instrumentation and measurement may be nominated for the I&M Society Award.  Membership in the IEEE is NOT a prerequisite.
Invitations for nominations for this Award will be in the fall and winter issues of the I&M Magazine. Any I&M Society member in good standing may submit a nomination to the Chair of the Awards and Membership Recognition Committee on or before April 30 of each year. The Society Awards Subcommittee will supply an appropriate nomination form.
The Award need not be made if a suitable candidate is not nominated.

The honorarium and travel expenses are shared pro rata if there are multiple recipients and attendees. This prize is funded by the I&M Society.

What are the Requirements to Be Considered for this Award?
The I&M Outstanding Young Engineer Award recognizes an outstanding young I&M member who has distinguished him/herself through achievements, which are technical, of exemplary service to the I&M Society, or a combination of both early in their career. 

Who Can Submit an Application?
The nominee must not have reached their 39th birthday and must be an I&M member at the time of nomination.

The IEEE Awards Program provides peer recognition to individuals whose contributions to the art and science of electro- and information technologies worldwide have improved the quality of life.

The IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society members may be particularly interested in the following Technical Field Awards, whose nomination deadlines are 31 January 2011.  The awards typically consist of a bronze medal, certificate and cash honorarium.

IEEE Control Systems Award for outstanding contributions to control systems engineering, science, or technology

IEEE Marie Sklodowska-Curie Award for outstanding contributions to the field of nuclear and plasma sciences and engineering

IEEE Joseph F. Keithley Award in Instrumentation and Measurement for outstanding contributions in electrical measurements

IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award for Emerging Technologies for outstanding contributions to emerging technologies recognized within recent years.

IEEE Photonics Award for outstanding achievement(s) in photonics.

IEEE Frank Rosenblatt Award for outstanding contribution(s) to the advancement of the design, practice, techniques, or theory in biologically and linguistically motivated computational paradigms including but not limited to neural networks, connectionist systems, evolutionary computation, fuzzy systems, and hybrid intelligent systems in which these paradigms are contained.

IEEE Frederik Philips Award for outstanding accomplishments in the management of research and development resulting in effective innovation in the electrical and electronics industry.

Awards presented by the IEEE Board of Directors fall into several categories: The Medal of Honor, Medals, Technical Field Awards, Corporate Recognitions, Service Awards, and Prize Papers.  The IEEE also recognizes outstanding individuals through a special membership category:  IEEE Honorary Member.
Nominations are initiated by members and the public, and then reviewed by a panel of peers.  Their recommendations are submitted to the IEEE Awards Board prior to final approval by the IEEE Board of Directors.
