- Measurement Precision, Sensitivity, and Noise
- Measurement Fundamentals (accuracy, trueness, repeatability, resolution, etc.)
- Calibration and Calibration Periodicity
- DC Measurements
- Biomedical Instrumentation and Measurements
- Robotics/Automated Measurements
- Nanotechnology in Instrumentation and Measurement
- Big Data and Metrology

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes an IMS YPA different from an IMS Distinguished Lecturer (DL)?
An IMS DL is someone who has made significant contributions to the field of instrumentation and measurement and are some of the most prominent individuals in their field. An IMS YPA is an individual who is a rising star in the instrumentation and measurement field and is on track to become a major contributor to the field.
2. What does a YPA lecture look like?
A lecture from an IMS YPA can take many forms and cover a wide variety of topics, related to instrumentation and measurement. One such form could be similar to that of a tutorial, where an introduction to the field is given, narrowing to the focus of the YPA’s work, and ultimately the future direction of the field from the YPA’s view.
3. What if I am 16 years past the graduation of my first degree? Do I still qualify as a YPA?
Unfortunately, you would not qualify and ultimately would not be able to apply/be accepted as a YPA. This definition of a young professional is set by IEEE.
4. How can I request a lecture from a YPA?
A lecture from a YPA can be requested by filling out the form online. YPA lecturers are offered both virtual and in-person!
