IEEE I&M Society Best Application in I&M Award
This annual award is in recognition of an individual whose idea applies measurement concepts of instrumentation technology in a novel way to benefit society. The application must be a single, deployed (licensed or at least Technology Readiness Level 6 per EARTO recommendation on TRL) working solution to an engineering need or problem, not an overall body of work.
$1,000, Plaque, up to $2,000 costs reimbursed (on a needs basis) associated with recipient attending I2MTC in the year the award is presented, and publication of the idea in the I&M Magazine
Funded by the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society.
Awarded annually at the following year’s I2MTC awards ceremony. Award will be given only if a suitable awardee is identified.
Recognizes application that best applies I&M principles in an innovative way and delivers impact for the society membership.
All levels of Membership, including Student Members. Nominees must exhibit actions that reflect positively on and enhance the reputation of the I&M Society. Voting members of the Society Standing Awards Committee are not eligible.
Nominations are solicited from all IMS Members. The call for award nominations will open on 1 February of the award year. The nomination deadline is 1 August of the award year. The deadline may be extended by the Awards Committee Chair as needed. Nominations must be submitted through the IMS website. Self nominations are not permitted.
In the case of multiple nominations from the same nominator, for the same individual, to the same award, the first complete nomination received shall be considered, unless the nominator requests that a revised version be used. Any revisions must be submitted by the nomination deadline.
In the case of multiple nominations from different nominators, for the same individual, to the same award, the first complete nomination received shall be considered and any letters of support from additional nominations will be included in the nomination package (up to the maximum number of letters of support). Nominations must include the following supporting documents:
- Nominee's Biographical Summary
- Nominee's CV
- Description of Impact
- Description of Application
- Optional Letters of Support (up to 2 Letters of Support will be accepted)
- Support letter from an end-user, also confirming that the solution is either licensed by them or at TRL level 6)
Nominations should comply with IEEE Policies and restrictions on awards. Incidents of misconduct including, but not limited to, violations of IEEE's publication policies, will be strongly considered by the awards committee and may be grounds for denial of an award or leadership position.
Note Regarding Endorsements: In addition to the Nominator’s Description of Impact and Description of Application Letters, up to three optional support letters may also be submitted.
