Dr Alex Mason graduated with a first class honors degree in Computer and Multimedia Systems from the University of Liverpool, UK, and went on to complete PhD on the topic of Wireless Sensor Networks and their Industrial Applications. Ever since, Alex has maintained an active research interest, and since becoming a Senior Lecturer in 2010, has been involved in a number of national and internal research projects. Furthermore, Alex has successfully won funding for projects in the healthcare and defense sectors within the UK, and currently is working with AgResearch in New Zealand in the area of monitoring for precision agriculture. Alex has over 100 peer reviewed publications, including 4 books, 4 patents and over 10 book chapters. Alex maintains a keen interest in sensors and sensor development, and has successfully supervised 3 PhD students. He is also a keen member of the IET and IEEE, and has recently been award the titled of Chartered Engineer (CEng). TC-18-Member.
