Dr Fakhrul Alam is a Senior Lecturer and the Leader of the Department of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering at the School of Food & Engineering, Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand. He received BSc (Hons) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from BUET, Bangladesh and MS and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, USA. His research interest includes indoor localization, 5G & visible light communication, IoT & wireless sensor networks. Dr. Alam has worked and collaborated with Lucent Technologies USA, LG Electronics Korea and the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). His work has been sponsored, among others, by the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), Auckland Transport and New Zealand Forest Research Institute Limited. He is a member of IEEE (I&M Society member), IET and of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society.
