Ignacio Lira reired as an Honorary Full Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Catholic University of Chile. His research interests include thermo-fluids, heat transfer, engineering mechanics, and metrology, with a particular emphasis on measurement uncertainty evaluation and its applications in engineering and clinical practice. He received his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, an M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Civil Engineering degree from the Catholic University of Chile. He is the author of three books, over 75 journal papers, and numerous conference presentations, and has secured 11 research grants supporting the advancement of measurement science. He is the founder of the Chilean Metrology Association and has been repeatedly recognized by the Student Council of the College of Engineering for his inspiring teaching. He is currently writing a book on Measurement Uncertainty with emphasis on the Bayesian Paradigm
