Ilya Budovsky received a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of St Petersburg and a Ph.D, in electrical engineering from Mendeleyev Institute of Metrology, St Petersburg, Russia. In 1991 he joined Australia’s National Measurement Laboratory, now the National Measurement Institute Australia (NMIA), as a research scientist. Since 2007 he has been leading the Electricity Section of NMIA and is responsible for the development and dissemination of Australian physical standards of measurement for electrical and time quantities. His research has been in the precision measurement of alternating voltage, current, power and related quantities, and has resulted in a variety of unique measurement standards that are presently in use both in Australia and at national metrology institutes around the world.
Dr Budovsky is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, Senior Member of IEEE and the Australian representative to the Consultative Committee for Electricity and Magnetism (CCEM). He chairs and Energy Efficiency Focus Group of APMP, the Asia-Oceania Regional grouping of national metrology institutes. He is also an active member of several IEC standards committees.
