Ever since his childhood days in the humble environs of Chennai, Raghul has been deeply fascinated by the science of electronics—a subject in which systems and circuits give birth to ideas. His father's untimely death at a young age could have made his journey tougher; however, it also fortified his resolve to follow his passion. Countless hours spent repairing crumbled radios and appliances amazed him with the way small components could propel complete systems. This intense passion for electronics, along with academic success—scoring 98% in 12th standard, 97% in 10th standard, and ranking first in his school—gave him the opportunity to secure admission in Sri Sairam Engineering College to study Electronics and Communication Engineering on a Educational loan. Here, He studied Electronics, the backbone of accurate and efficacious technology, and it became his mission to create meaningful solutions.
He drew his inspiration from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, whose space inventions proved engineering could change the world, and Dr. Veeramuthuvel, a former college student, is the Project Director of Chandrayaan-3. whose technological expertise encouraged him to engineer creatively. Their legacies inspire his passion for solving society's problems through engineering.
He carried out humanitarian projects with technical competency and social well-being at Sri Sairam Engineering College. In the "GAIA - Smart and Sustainable Forest" project sponsored by EPICS IN IEEE($6430), He developed sensor systems to track environmental parameters, thus acknowledging the role of Electronics and IOT towards sustainability. Through the IEEE TECH4GOOD-funded($4749) "Multi-carrier Signal Amplification for Rural Connectivity," He was able to improve signal systems for rural communication, recognizing the importance of accurate engineering. His IEEE experience has been enriching. Recognized for his outstanding character, scholarship, and leadership attitude, He was selected as one of the top 11 students to be inducted(2023) into the prestigious IEEE-HKN Nu Eta Chapter. As an active member, he coordinated activities such as workshops on renewable energy systems and hackathons addressing urban challenges, all focused on advancing technology for the benefit of society, and was honored with several awards within IEEE. He also performed well in competitions, winning prizes at national-level technical symposiums and hackathons for his impressive sensor-based designs, which improved his Electronics knowledge. Academically, he maintained an excellent CGPA of 9.18 and emerged as the topper of his department, reflecting both his technical acumen and dedication. These activities honed his technical and leadership capabilities while focusing on the application of technology in welfare to society.
He additionally completed a diploma in embedded systems from LiveWire along with his Engineering degree, for which He secured a good percentage of 98%, showcasing proficiency in responsive circuit design. Additionally, internships with the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) and Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) immensely enhanced his skill set. At NIOT, He was part of the AquaVision project, where He embedded sensors in an autonomous underwater vehicle to gather oceanographic data, with specific focus on controllers and instrumentation engineering. While at CMRL, He was involved in the development of embedded systems for urban infrastructure, which further enhanced his admiration for the accuracy needed for secure and efficient functioning. Beyond the classroom, He mentors underprivileged students, sharing his passion for electronics to spark their interest.
Having completed graduate studies in embedded sensing, system integration, and autonomous instrumentation, my dream is to create technologies that not only solve existing issues but also reduce future challenges. My dream is to start and lead a company dedicated to practical instrumentation to improve environmental safety, public health, and disaster resilience, where intelligent sensing systems will make daily life safer, smarter, and more sustainable. The IEEE IMS Undergraduate Scholarship will be a key platform to sharpen my technical skills, gain mentorship, and engage with a community of innovators, thus allowing me to bridge impactful research and scalable solutions that make a real difference in society.
