Serge Demidenko Email Biography Dr. Serge Demidenko Ph.D. (M’91- SM’94- F’04) is currently a Professor in Electronics, Information, and Communication Systems at the School of Food and Advanced Technology, Massey University, New Zealand. Professor Demidenko received an ME (Computer Engineering) from the Belarusian State University of Informatics & Radio Electronics in 1977 and Ph.D. (Engineering Cybernetics & Information Theory) from the Institute of Engineering Cybernetics, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 1984. He holds also two post-doctoral academic degrees – Senior Scientist (Control Engineering) and Docent (Informatics, Control, and Computer Engineering) awarded by the State Higher Attestation Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR and the Republic of Belarus respectively, as well as a Certificate in Teaching (Higher Education) from Singapore Polytechnic in conjunction with Sheffield University, UK. His professional career encompasses industry and academia in the Asia Pacific region and Europe (Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, New Zealand, UK, Italy, Belarus). While with the industry, he progressed from Junior Electronics Design Engineer to a Head of the Joint (Industry-Academy) Test Lab of a large computer systems manufacturing company. Since the mid-90s, he has held several senior academic positions including Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University; Head of the School of Engineering and Advanced Technology, Massey University; Head of the School of Engineering, Monash University; Head of the Centre (School) of Technology, and Head of the Centre (School) of Communication & Design (concurrent appointments) as well as Vice-President Academic, RMIT International University; Associate Head of the Institute of Information Sciences and Technology, Massey University, and others. The areas of his research specialization include Signal Processing, Instrumentation and Measurement, Electronics Design and Testing, and Computer Systems. He is the author of 4 books, over 200 papers, and 25 engineering patents. He has been the recipient of several national, regional and university awards for excellence in research and teaching. In addition to being a Fellow of IEEE, Professor Demidenko is the IEEE Computer Society (CS) Golden Core Member, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, and a Member of the European Academy of Science and Arts (Academia Scientiarum et Artium Europaea). He is also UK Chartered Engineer. Professor Demidenko has been active in the field of technical publications. He is an associate editor of six international peer-reviewed journals and has been a reviewer for numerous journals and conferences. He also devotes his time and energy to professional societies, committees, registration and accreditation bodies while holding various roles in IEEE and IET.
