Xiao Hu (Member, IEEE) is a Research Scientist at the Lower Airspace Economy Research Institute (LASER) at the International Digital Economy Academy (IDEA). He also serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Thrust of Intelligent Transportation, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). He received a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark in 2021, an M.S. in Computer and Communication Engineering from Université de Technologie de Compiègne in 2013, and a B.S. in Measurement and Control Technology from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an, China, in 2010. He previously worked as an Algorithm Expert at Alibaba DAMO Academy and as a Senior Engineer at DJI Innovation.
His research interests include instrumentation and measurement, navigation and positioning, sensor fusion, calibration, computer vision, and AI-enabled sensing systems, with applications to UAVs, autonomous vehicles, railway/transportation sensing, low-altitude environmental/altitude monitoring, GNSS/UWB/pseudolite positioning, and camera–LiDAR–IMU calibration. He serves as a regular reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles, IROS, CVPR, ICCV, and other venues. He was recognized as an IEEE TIM Outstanding Reviewer in 2024 and 2025.
