Yiming Deng is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan State University and Director of the Nondestructive Evaluation Laboratory. His research focuses on advanced sensing, signal processing, and AI-driven analytics for nondestructive evaluation and structural health monitoring, with applications in advanced manufacturing of metals and composites, aerospace systems, and critical infrastructure such as pipelines. His recent work includes novel electromagnetic sensing, and sensor fusion for in-situ AM NDE, embedded thin-film sensor systems for guided wave analysis, and data-driven methods for process monitoring in metal and polymer-based AM systems, as well as new NDE sensors and sensing systems development. He is a Fellow of American Society for Nondestructive Testing (class of 2021).
