Redefining Feminism: Women’s Perspectives in Engineering and Science
The Women in Instrumentation & Measurement held a panel discussion entitled, “Redefining Feminism: Women’s Perspectives in Engineering and Science.” at I2MTC 2025. The discussion was organized by IMS WiE Liaison Ferdinanda Ponci and PhD researcher Oumayma Kahouli, an enthusiastic volunteer engaged with WIE and IEEE R8 Young Professionals.
Panelists Prof. Dr. Karin Leistner, Prof. Dr. Ruth Dyer and Prof. Dr. Olfa Kanoun shared personal stories and perspective as women in engineering. The audience followed them through heartfelt real-world experiences, common misconceptions exemplified in very tangible terms, and what feminism means within the context of science and engineering. Discussion followed about new ways of thinking equity and progress.
Organizers and Panelists also provided exemplary role models in the profession and in volunteering in IEEE and IMS activities, in particular.
