Message from Juan Manuel Ramirez Cortes
Dear Friends,
I have been given the great honor of being President of the Instrumentation and Measurement Society for the next two years. I humbly take this responsibility with the compromise to do my best effort in the accomplishment of our goals. I feel confident about that because the essence of IMS is the participation of so many talented members in our local chapters around the world, in the AdCom, in the many organizing committees, and participants in conferences, workshops, etc.
I would like to thank Salvo Baglio, our president, and leader in the past years, for his wise, gentle, and expert dedication to our Society in this journey. We start the year with renewed energy and high motivation to continue the projects undertaken by the AdCom, as well as to explore new alternatives which may benefit our members.
We have already resumed in-person activities at the majority of our sponsored conferences and technical meetings, keeping the best of available digital resources and online services where they can be used. Our distinguished lecturer program has started to provide in-person speaking engagements upon request, our chapters around the world are resuming the organization of local events in support of our members, and so on. In the same way, the AdCom is ready to keep moving our strategic plans with the permanent objective of serving our community through the best alternatives within our reach so that we can fulfill our permanent goal that IMS becomes the professional home of our members.
I extend to you a cordial invitation to get involved in the many activities which characterize our beloved society. We need your participation and your input for coming up with new initiatives and approaches to extend to the best of our resources the capabilities of this community.
This newsletter and our webpage are our official communication channels. We invite you to keep informed of the many activities and existing programs. Get close to your local chapter. Keep in touch.
I look forward to seeing you at some of the many IMS events in the near future.
Cordially,
Manuel
