Biography

Salvatore Baglio received the “Laurea” and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Catania, Italy, in 1990 and 1994, respectively.

Since 1996 he is with the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica Elettronica e Informatica, University of Catania, where he is currently Full Professor of Instrumentation and Measurement.

Prof. Baglio teaches courses in “measurement theory,” “electronic instrumentations,” and “Micro and nanosensors”.

His research interests are mainly focused on micro and nanotechnologies for sensors and transducers, micro and nanosensors, hysteretic materials for sensors, nonlinear dynamics for transducers, methodologies and integrated devices for energy harvesting.

He has coauthored more than 400 scientific publications including papers in international journals and in proceedings of international conferences, books, chapters in books. He is also co-inventor in international patents.

Prof. Baglio is IEEE Fellow, has served as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transaction on Circuits and Systems and for the IEEE Transaction on Instrumentation and Measurements, he has also been Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.

Prof. Baglio is currently Associate Editor in Chief of the IEEE Transaction on Instrumentation and Measurements. He has been the General co-Chair of IEEE I2MTC 2018 and of IEEE SAS 2016 (SAS Steering Committee (2014-2017)).

Salvo Baglio is an I&M Society AdCom member (2015-2018) where he has served as Video Tutorials EIC (2015-2018), Faculty Course Development Award Selection Committee Member (2015-2016), Vice President Education (2016-2017), Society representative on IEEE Sensor Council AdCom (2017-2019, and the I&M Society AdCom Executive Vice President (2018-2019).

He is currently the Society President (2020-2021).

Biography

Ruth Dyer earned her doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky, and her bachelor's and master's degrees in biochemistry are from Kansas State University. She joined K-State in 1983 as an assistant professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering and was promoted to full professor in 1997. From 1998 up to her recent retirement, Dr. Dyer served in various administrative roles in the Office of the Provost. In her final, role she served as the senior vice provost for academic affairs.

She has served in a number of leadership roles in the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society (IMS), including Sr. Past President (2020-2021); Awards Chair (2020-2021), Jr. Past President (2018-2019), Nominations & Appointments Chair (2018-2019), President (2016-2017), Vice President for Membership, Vice President for Publications, Vice President for Finance, and Executive Vice President. She is a Fellow of the IEEE, and in 2011 she received the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society's Distinguished Service Award. She served as the General Program Co-Chair for the 2010 I2MTC and as the Technical Program Co-Chair for the 2011 I2MTC. She also served for a number of years as a member of the I2MTC Board of Directors. She served three four-year terms — 1999-2002, 2003-2006, and 2008-2011— as an elected member of the IMS Administrative Committee.

Dr. Dyer also was one of seven individuals from across the United States to be named a Fellow of the Association of Women in Sciences in 2006. She was an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow in 2003-2004 and served during that time at Ohio State University. In 2013, she was selected for induction into the University of Kentucky (UK) College of Engineering Hall of Distinction, and she currently serves on the UK Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council.

R. Zoughi received his B.S.E.E, M.S.E.E, and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering (radar remote sensing, radar systems, and microwaves) from the University of Kansas where from 1981 until 1987 he was at the Radar Systems and Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSL). He is the Kirby Gray (Battelle) Chair in Engineering and a Professor Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE) at Iowa State University (ISU). He is also the Director of Center for Nondestructive Evaluation (CNDE) at ISU. He served as the Schlumberger Endowed Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) from January 2001 to August 2019. Prior to joining Missouri S&T and since 1987 he was with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Colorado State University (CSU). He is the recipient of the 2007 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Distinguished Service Award, the 2009 American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Research Award for Sustained Excellence, the 2011 IEEE Joseph F. Keithley Award in Instrumentation and Measurement and the 2020 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Career Excellence Award. In 2013 and 2020 he and his co-authors received the H. A. Wheeler Applications Prize Paper Award from the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (APS). He is also the recipient of the 2023 American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Lester/Mehl Honor Lecture Award. He has twenty issued US patents to his credit (in addition to several issued abroad). He has served the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society and the IEEE in various capacities.
