Pritam Paral

Biography

Dr. Pritam Paral (M’22) received the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from the West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata, India in 2012 and the Master of Engineering (M. E.) in Electrical Engineering (Specialization - Control Systems) from the Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2014. He completed his Ph.D. (Engg.) degree in Instrumentation and Measurement (I & M) from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2022. From March 2022 to early January 2023, Dr. Paral worked as a Research Associate under the “SERB-National Science Chair” Scheme, Government of India, at the Center for Scientific Research, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, India. Since late January 2023, he is with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, Howrah, India as a faculty member.

Dr. Paral has published several peer-reviewed papers in renowned IEEE journals and international conferences, as well as a number of book chapters in the books from reputed international publishers. His current research interests include human-centered robotics, instrumentation and signal processing, computer vision and machine learning, granular computing, evolutionary computation, fractional-order chaotic systems, etc. Dr. Paral serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement and is also a reviewer of several other IEEE and Elsevier journals. He is a member of the IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Society (IMS).
