Sergio Saponara Email Biography Prof. Sergio Saponara (SM’13), got Master Degree cum laude in Electronic Engineering and a PhD degree in Information Engineering, from University of Pisa, Italy. He had research grants from Italian National Research Council in 1999 and STMicroelectronics in 2000-2002, and in 2002 he was a Marie Curie Research Fellow at IMEC, Belgium. Currently, he is Professor at the University of Pisa where he teaches courses of Vehicular Electronics, Embedded Systems for Robotics and Automation, Electronic Systems Manufacturing, in Bachelor/Master Engineering courses. He is a member of the Ph.D. program committee in ICT Engineering. He is also the scientific director of the Summer School of the University of Pisa “Enabling technologies for the Internet of Things”, awarded by the IEEE CASS seasonal school initiative. He is a co-founder/teacher of the post-graduate Master in “Automotive Engineering and Principles of Management” by Universities of Pisa and Florence, co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of the spin-off company Ingeniars srl (www.ingeniars.com), and a member of the directive council of research centers UCAR (http://www.ucartuscany.it/) and MOVET (http://www.movet.org/). He has scientific associations with Italian Interuniversity consortia for Telecommunications (CNIT) and for Informatics (CINI) and for Nuclear Physics (INFN). He joined the NEWCOM and HIPEAC European networks of excellence. He co-authored about 300 international scientific publications with H-index 24 and +1500 citations in Scopus/ISI WoS. He is Associate Editor and/or Guest Editor of 12 international peer-reviewed journals, including IEEE Transactions Industrial Informatics, IET Electronics Letters, IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine, IEEE Canadian Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Springer Journal of Real-Time Image processing, MDPI Sensors, MDPI Energies. He is a member of 4 IEEE Technical Committees (TC-7, TC-19 and TC-41 of the IEEE IMS), of the IEEE CAS and SPS Interest groups in IoT. He served in the organization of more than 150 international conferences, most from IEEE and SPIE, where he held invited talks, round tables and tutorials, including IEEE IMS Video Tutorial and where he received several best paper/best presentation awards. He served as a member of the reviewing board of more than 60 peer-reviewed journals. His technology transfer activity includes collaborations with STM, Renesas, Finmeccanica, Ericsson, Piaggio, Magna, AMS, Valeo, ABB, INTEL, Thales, CAEN, Sitael, Intecs, Rico, Flyby.
