Biography

Carlos G. Juan was born in Petrer, Spain, on July 2, 1991. He received the MSc degree in telecommunication engineering and the PhD degree in electronics engineering from Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH), Elche, Spain, in 2014 and 2019, respectively, where he joined the Neuroengineering Biomedical (nBio) Research Gruop as a Research Fellow.

Since 2014, he has been a Research Fellow with the nBio Research Group. He was a Visiting Researcher with the Lab-STICC Group, Université de Bretagne Occidentale (UBO), Brest, France, in 2016 and 2018. During 2019–2020 he was an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Materials Science, Optics and Electronic Technology, UMH. During 2020–2021 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Lab-STICC, UBO. During 2022 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Medical Robotics Group, University of Málaga, Málaga, Spain. Since October 2022 he is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Technical University of Cartagena, Cartagena, Spain, also associated with the Institute of Bioengineering, UMH. His main research interests include instrumentation electronics, measurement devices, microwave engineering, antennas and propagation, and computer science applied to bioengineering.

Dr. Juan was a recipient of the CEA-Springer Award to the Best PhD Thesis in Bioengineering 2020, issued by the Spanish Committee in Automatic Control (CEA), as well as the Santander Bank Young Researchers Award 2022, issued by Santander Bank, Inc., among other awards. He held several competitive predoctoral and postdoctoral research grants from the Spanish Government, the Brittany Government (France), the European Union, and the Valencian Government (Spain). He authored the book Glucose Concentration Detection in Aqueous and Biological Solutions with Microwave Sensors: An Approach towards Non- invasive Glucose Sensing, published by Springer. He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INSTRUMENTATION AND MEASUREMENT, as well as a Regular Reviewer for several highly-impacted journals, including IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MICROWAVE THEORY AND TECHNIQUES, IEEE SENSORS JOURNAL, IEEE SENSORS LETTERS, IEEE MICROWAVE AND WIRELESS COMPONENTS LETTERS, Scientific Reports, Biosensors, or Sensors.
