Biography

Daniel Slomovitz currently holds the position of Professor at the Universidad de la República (UDELAR), Uruguay. He has been with the Laboratory of the National Electrical Power Utility, Uruguay (UTE) for 45 years, now retired as Head of the Laboratory. He received the degrees of Electric Engineer and Doctor Degree from UDELAR in 1978 and 2000. His research work is focused on high-precision and high-voltage measurements, including voltage and current sensors, harmonic measurements in power networks, energy measurements, and smart grids. He has published more than 200 journal and conference papers, and two books. Dr. Slomovitz has been Member of IEEE since 1986 and Senior Member since 1989. He received the IEEE RAB ACHIEVEMENT AWARD (2004), IEEE OUTSTANDING ENGINEER (1998) and IEEE EMINENT ENGINEER (1994).
