Gui-Bin Bian

Biography

Gui-Bin Bian (M’15) received Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from
Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, in 2010. He then joined Institute of
Automation Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA), where he is an Assistant
Professor from 2011 to 2014, and then as Associate Professor from 2014 to 2018. In 2016, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Computational Engineering, University of Bournemouth, UK. He is currently a Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Multimodal Artificial Intelligence Systems, CASIA. His main research interests include intelligent surgical robotics, tactile interactive device and medical image analysis. He has published more than 100 research papers and held 53 patents. He served as the chairman of the Youth Innovation Promotion Association (YIPA) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is also a recipient of several awards, including Technological Innovation Award of China Instrument and Control Society, Technological Innovation Award of China Association of Inventions, Distinguished Young Scholar of Beijing, and YIPA Excellent member of CAS.
