Biography

Adam G. Polak received the M.Sc., Ph.D., and D.Sc. degrees in Technical Sciences from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST), Poland, in 1988, 1994 and 2008, respectively. From 1988 he has been working on the research-didactic staff at WUST. In 1992/1993 he held a fellowship from the British Council in the Centre for Measurement and Information in Medicine, City University, London. He was a recipient of the award of the Foundation for Polish Science (1995) and the scholarship “Enhancing science linkages between New Zealand and Europe through Poland” (2010). He has been cooperating with research teams from Boston University (Boston, MA), Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), The University of Auckland (New Zeeland) and Semmelweis University (Budapest, Hungary). He is a member of the Committee on Metrology and Scientific Instrumentation, Polish Academy of Sciences. His research includes: complex systems identification, indirect measurements, inverse problem solving, regularization of parameter estimation and signal reconstruction, methods for decomposition and data fusion, modeling and measurements in physiology, reconstruction of CT images, telemedicine and wireless monitoring of life signals, machine learning in disease detection and differentiation.
