George Xiao Email Biography Gaozhi (George) Xiao (Fellow, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree from Loughborough University, U.K., in 1995. He is a Principle Research Officer with the National Research Council of Canada. He has published more than 100 papers in refereed journals and refereed conference proceedings, and one co-edited book. He is currently holding 5 U.S. patents. He has brought several technologies from concepts to products. He has managed large Research and Development projects in industries, academics and government labs covering areas, including RFID/NFC, flexible/printable/wearable electronics, fiber optic sensor systems, photonic sensing and measurement, structural health monitoring, indoor air quality monitoring, structural materials, and smart materials. He received the 2014 Technical Award from the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, and the 2018 Distinguished Service Award from the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society. He is currently an Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Journal of Radio Frequency Identification and an Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement.
