Biography

Mohamed A. Abou-Khousa (Senior Member, IEEE) is an electrical engineer and industrialist. His areas of expertise include antennas, Radars, RF instrumentation, material characterization, nondestructive testing, and subsurface imaging. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at Khalifa University, Abu-Dhabi, UAE, where he also serves as Associate Chair for Graduate Studies. He was a Research Scientist/Engineer at Robarts Research Institute, London, ON, Canada, from 2009 to 2013. Over the course of his career, he led and contributed to many research and development projects across a broad range of sectors including oil & gas, biomedical, space, and aerospace. He has co-authored many technical publications and holds several patents in his areas of expertise. His active role in knowledge and technology transfer between academia and industry has led to the deployment of microwave sensing technologies in various regions around the world. He is the recipient of multiple national and international awards. He currently serves as Associate Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (TIM), having previously served as Associate Editor (2017–2021). He was TPC Co-Chair for I2MTC in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and served as Chair of the IEEE UAE IMS/AP/MTT Joint Chapter (2018–2021).
