2024 Education Award Recipients

Please join us in congratulating the
2024 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Education Award Recipients!

Graduate Student Fellowship Award

This award is intended to support and encourage graduate-level research in the area of Instrumentation and Measurement. This year, we will award four awards of 20K each.

Tian Meng – University of Manchester 

For the project titled, "Automated Non-Contact Electromagnetic Inspection of Complex Parts Enhanced by Robotics and Reinforcement Learning"
 

Jiahui Cao – Xi’an Jiaotong University

For the project titled, "Low-intervention measurement and condition monitoring system for rotating blades"
 

Kapil Gangwar – Cornell University

For the project titled, "Continuous Dyspnea and Sleep Apnea Monitoring in Alzheimer’s Patients Using Near-Field RF Sensors Enhanced by Machine Learning"
 

Zheng Zhou – Xi'an Jiaotong University

For the project titled, "Physics-enhanced deep reinforcement learning for sensor placement in industrial monitoring"

Faculty Course Development Award 2024

 This award is intended to support and encourage faculty members to develop a new course or significantly revise an existing course with specific focus in instrumentation and measurement. This year one award of $10,000 was awarded.

Stefano Rinaldi – University of Brescia

For the course titled, “Advanced Sensors for Agriculture.”

Best Dissertation Award 2024

The Best Dissertation Award recognizes the author of an outstanding PhD dissertation in terms of technical significance and creativity in the field of Instrumentation and Measurement. This year, one prize of $1,000 USD was awarded. Our Best Dissertation Award Recipient also has their dissertation abstract published in the IEEE IMS Magazine.

For the dissertation titled, "Impedance spectroscopy: non-invasive measurements for human tissues characterization"
