For the TC that best participates in I&M activities in an innovative way and delivers impact for the society.

Eligibility:

All active technical committees of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society that submit their annual TC report on time are eligible for this award.

Ye Chow Kuang

Biography

Associate Professor Kuang Ye Chow (M'05-SM'13) graduated with a first class degree honours in Electromechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton in 2000. He completed my PhD study four years later in the Tony Davies High Voltage Laboratory University of Southampton. He joined the School of Engineering, Monash University in 2005 where he has worked for over a decade now. He served as Associate Head of School (2012-2016) and University committees growing new courses, build the graduate research infrastructure of the School and transformed the School of Engineering into research intensive department.

Ye Chow's research is closely tie to the application of statistics and computer intelligence in large scale industrial automation. His research interest covers quantification of uncertainty in engineering applications, test technologies, machine learning, reliability analysis and statistical signal processing. He worked with leading multinational corporations, developed new techniques and data handling methodologies that are used by the industry partners. Recently, his works have expanded to cover measurement uncertainty evaluation methods which has wide application in science and technological areas (medical research, structural design, mechanical systems modelling, etc.).

Ye Chow is the winner of 2012 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Faculty Course Development Award and 2014 International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) Excellence Award in Best Practices / Innovation in International Education. The awards were given to him to recognize his innovations in industrial-linked education that enhances key professional skills and work-readiness with the direct industrial sponsorship and outstanding contribution to internationalization of engineering education.

Ye Chow is active in professional societies. He is a Chartered Engineer registered under the Institution of Engineering and Technology UK; the Chair of the IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Technical Committee on Fault Tolerant Measurement Systems (TC-32) since 2016. He has co-founded IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Malaysia Chapter and IEEE Technology & Engineering Management Society Malaysia Chapter. He serves as editor and reviewer for several well-known academic journals and various international conferences under IEEE umbrella.
